This past weekend, the Careers&Things team hosted our first-ever "Transitioning into Digital Careers Workshop" in Johannesburg, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome! 🎉

The workshop aimed to support individuals in making their transition into digital careers by providing an overview of key macro-trends and emerging digital opportunities, equipping participants with strategies for navigating career transitions into the tech sector, and facilitating the participants to start preparing practical next steps. Participants gained valuable skills in identifying digital roles and charting a clear path for their professional growth.

The energy in the room was electric as we welcomed 30 incredible attendees eager to make the shift into digital careers. The day ended with mingling and networking and the group was able to earn a certificate of participation to showcase that they've grown their understanding of the Tech space and related opportunities.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and supported in getting this workshop out there! Your enthusiasm and participation made this event a huge success.

The Digital World is Open to Everyone – and Anyone is Welcome!

Our workshop brought together a room full of diverse individuals, ranging from fresh graduates to seasoned professionals across different sectors. What stood out was that no matter the career background, age group, or experience level, digital careers offer opportunities for everyone. From teachers to entrepreneurs, our participants proved that anyone can find their place in the digital space with the right guidance and tools.

The Power of Community

Many participants shared how validating it felt to be surrounded by others also navigating their own career transitions. The group dynamic fostered a supportive environment, where attendees could share their struggles, receive encouragement, and learn from others' experiences. It reminded everyone that they’re not alone in their journey—and that community plays a key role in building confidence and pushing through challenges.

Continuous Learning is Key

The digital space evolves rapidly, making adaptability and lifelong learning essential. Attendees recognised that success in the tech world isn’t just about their current skills—it’s about being open to new tools, trends, and evolving industry demands.
